GHOA is not automatically notified when a property transfers title in the Grange and this at times leads to confusion for the new homeowner. It is the responsibility of the purchaser (through their lawyer) to notify GHOA of the change in ownership.
Snow must be cleared 24 hours after a snowfall. 1st Offence: Warning issues, snow must be cleared within 24 hours. 2nd Offence: Cost of snow removal.
If your sidewalk is immediately adjacent to the road, keep the first 8 inches of the gutter clear of snow and ice.
When it gets warm outside, the melting snow will not end up pooling on your sidewalk. Ideally, everyone between your property and the closest storm sewer needs to do this to ensure the water ends up draining away. If they don't, consider clearing their gutters for them if it's not too much work.
Please also shovel all snow on your lawn not on the road so that our streets remain as clean as possible. Shovelings or pushing snow from sidewalks into roads or alleys violates municipal bylaws and results in a fine of $250, contributes to unsafe driving and walking conditions, increases the cost of providing winter road maintenance and can lead to blocked storm drains.
